Are Alternatives the real deal?

When you think of alternatives what is the first thing that comes to mind? The meaning in the dictionary is: a choice limited to one of two or more possibilities. So is this choice between normal milk and dairy-free milk or perhaps an energizing alternative to your daily coffee. Are these amazing possibilities that are going to change your life or well it’s an alternative so that means it’s really not that great! Out of choice is there anyone you know who deep down really wants that de-caff soya latte macchiato when what they really want is the full fat café mocha with extra cream on top! Come on where is the choice in that! Most often when we think alternatives it is always with the thought that it will never fully satisfy us as when it comes to the real thing who wants the alternative? However, in some cases we beg to differ. As with our healthier adhesives they get rid of the risk but still perform as well as the alternative, with decaff it gives you a less lethargic and agitated you. That’s already some great examples of why the alternative is sometimes the new and better way of doing things.

So why is low risk so important?

Part of our values is to care and value others, and as such, we want to promote a healthier adhesive to products that contain dichloromethane. With the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) now checking up on the safety of workshops more frequently there has been more of a demand for products that are a healthier alternative.

The HSE has also now become a profit-making organisation. This has meant they are much more proactive in stopping people from using harmful products. Using our products from the outset could save you a lot of time and money when they HSE knock on your door and have a look at what products you are using.

All our healthier adhesives are developed to pose the lowest possible hazards to your health. This means the risk phrases we need to display on the canisters are as low as possible, as is the Volatile Organic Content (VOC) which is especially important for parts of Europe. Non- chlorinated adhesives also void the need of phrases like H351 which states suspected of causing cancer.

Why do we care about low risk?

Why is all of this so important to our Business Development Managers (BDM)? Gregg one of our BDMs said, ‘Promoting healthier adhesives is important to us as the lives of our customers are important to us. Giving our customers the option of a lower risk product that works and provides the same results for our customers, is always going to central to our business as its part of our values to care and value others.’ 

Our range of low VOC adhesives are quick to use in comparison to our competitors which can take up to 25 minutes for the solvent to evaporate. The benefit is even though they are non- chlorinated they are also high performance therefore customers see no drop-in performance.

Final Thoughts

So going back to what we said at the start sometimes alternatives are not the substitute for the real thing but in this case we showed that really the alternative is much better! Its very much like coffee, despite all its shortcomings its one of those must haves in getting up in the mornings! But like many things comes with the warnings of not consuming to excess. Being energized doesn’t have to mean a sacrifice of health, so trying alternatives means a less agitated and lethargic you. Who wouldn’t want that?
