Over recent months there has been widespread conversations about the fire performance of products such as combustibility and non-combustibility. We look today at what the common usage of our fire rated adhesives are used for and why is flam class so important.  

When considering the use of our flam class products the first common item would have to be fire doors. So, what is the purpose of a fire door? A fire door is one of the most important fire safety products on your premises. They reduce the spread of fire and smoke for a specified amount of time. When it comes to saving lives, fire doors have four main functions:

-       To protect escape routes so people can evacuate safely

-       To slow the progress of fire and smoke

-       To protect the building and its contents (An insurance requirement)

-       To allow firefighters to extinguish the fire as safely as possible.

All of us who use or occupy any building have a right to expect that we will be safely protected should a fire break out.

Why are we the preferred adhesive for fire rated projects?

Fire rated adhesive products are a constant source of enquiry and with recently occurred events have become increasingly important to specifiers, contractors, fabricators and installers alike.

Many of our customers who use our fire rated adhesives are using them on a wide range of fire resistant doors that are designed to be suitable for both domestic and commercial uses. However, our adhesives are also used in many applications including furniture, transport and upholstery.

Our fire rated adhesives meet the needed criteria for the flam class they have been tested for. This means they will not burn on their own and the surface spread of flame is limited. This makes our products the preferred adhesive for all fire rated projects. The smoke and toxicity testing we carry out proves that our products will not emit dangerous levels of harmful substances during any fire.  

What would we recommend?

Quin Global UK have two fire rated certified products within our Joinery range. TensorGrip L17 is Class 1 fire rated and TensorGrip LP61 is Class 0 fire rated.
