Thoughts from JEC World Show

Here we are…! A week later, certainly reliving the most memorable experiences of the 4 days from the JEC World Show experience. This most definitely opened windows of opportunity and gave me a greater insight into the exhibiting world! Just a little bit about myself I’m Clara and my role here at Quin Global UK is Office and Sales administration. I spend most of my time planning business travel, getting involved in trade shows, sorting out my colleague’s business appointments, and other internal admin tasks. Overall, this is a very small snippet of what I do, but it’s a great team and I thoroughly enjoy been part of Team Quin. In today’s blog I’m going to share some of my thoughts into my first tradeshow so why not join me on my Parisian adventure!

Upon arrival

Day one consisted of unpacking boxes, sticking on labels, setting up the Scalextric track, and of course giving it a go to make sure everything ran smoothly! I was surprised at how quickly the show was set up, when we first arrived, the whole building looked somewhat different to the start of the show the next day. The scene of paint rollers still actively in use by other exhibitors, tape all over the floor and half un-packed pallets made the first day more of an obstacle course than an exhibition! I wondered whether everything would be set up in time for the next day, though of course it would be.

Learning Points:

I would say that the main learning points for me would be a serious increase in Composite product knowledge which was very useful when speaking to any visitors or prospects. I was involved in all sorts of different things such as live streaming for Twitter to making coffees to chatting to customers. With at least 5 different languages spoken, such as Dutch, French, English, German, Italian and Spanish, between us we were prepared for most conversations with Internationals. I was impressed how colossal the whole set-up was, which of course was needed judging by the size of some stands. Mitsubishi for example had an awesome stand, and of course a huge racing car which captured the eyes of all the motorist fans amongst us.

The amazing waffle stand...!

With a familiar whiff of fresh sweet baking coming from somewhere in the nearby vicinity, Gemma, one of my colleagues, and I followed our noses which led us to an amaaaazing waffle stand! Chocolate or fresh apple and cinnamon were the favourite! Despite the cost, we were prepared to pay anything for these delicious waffles with our 10 o’clock Coffee!

Familiar faces...!

Walking through hall 5, we were not expecting to meet our Italian friends at Mates Italiana, we turned the corner and lo and behold there they were with their bright and colourful stand. Such as surprise! We  visited each other’s stands for a coffee and catch up, it was great to meet some fresh faces especially for me as I hadn’t met them in person. Greeted with a shot of powerful Italian Coffee, we sure knew where to go for excellent quality Coffee. To finish off our exciting week, we had to pay one more last visit to Mates Italiana who were celebrating the end of the show with Prosecco, Cheese and ham. We all came to it that we couldn’t leave without trying some good ol’ Italian produce, so we joined the merry throng before saying our goodbyes to the wonderful city of Paris,
