Setting the Trend: Inside Innovation at TensorGrip

Whether it’s a brand new adhesive formula or a fresh take on spray pattern technology, one thing’s for sure: we love those ‘lightbulb’ moments. Here at TensorGrip TC Adhesives, we understand that big ideas have the potential to change the world. That’s why we’re bringing together some of the brightest brains in adhesive engineering to pioneer real change in our products for the benefit of our customers.

The world around us is changing at a rapid pace, and now more than ever, composites manufacturers and their partners must do more to meet its challenges. This means moving away from carbon-intensive processes towards methods that are sustainable, cost-effective and safe. However, with the need for change becoming more urgent, where do we even make a start?

TensorGrip: Setting the Pace of Change in Composite Adhesives

Here at TensorGip TC Adhesives, we recognise that there’s a lot of work to be done. However, as a brand of the adhesive innovators at Quin Global, we’re proud to say that we’re leading the way with ideas that will change how we think about and work with composite adhesives. Here’s just a few ways that we’re changing the relationships between our products, our users and the world around us…

  • Industry collaboration: We are adhesive innovators by our very nature. As we progress further into 2022, we’ll be keeping an eye on emerging and evolving trends within the composite adhesive market, collaborating with some of the industry’s leading materials suppliers and composite manufacturers to provide our customers with even better products. This means ensuring that our products continue to be compatible with other composite materials that our products are used in conjunction with. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

  • Transforming sustainability: Like many other industries, the Composites space must do more to usher in processes that are more sustainable and less impactful to the natural world around us. With this challenge in mind, we’re ensuring that our adhesives are compatible with materials that are at the cutting edge of sustainability in composites - just like natural flax & hemp. Usable as an alternative to glass fibre, this environmentally friendly material will be TensorGrip compatible.

  • Resin compatibility: It’s true: we’re working hard behind the scenes to ensure that our products are compatible with environmentally-friendly materials like natural flax. However, our commitment to compatibility doesn’t end there. We’re driving research and innovation at the labs of Quin Global to ensure compatibility with new bio-resins, including  PET-derived resins.

  • Testing & validation: Many parts that are manufactured using composites processes are structural and will endure significant loading/stress during life in use. We understand that although our adhesives are a small part of the overall structures, they do play a crucial part in their integrity. This year Quin Global is investing in independent test data to be carried out in conjunction with reputable industry organisations. This will enable TensorGrip TC products to be benchmarked against other products and materials using  standardised ISO accreditations and ultimately give manufacturers the confidence even for the most demanding applications.

  • Changing wind energy: Wind energy has the potential to transform the world we live in; reducing our reliance on fossil fuels whilst driving an international transition towards clean, renewable energy production. TensorGrip TC Adhesives is playing its role driving real change in the sector, with our team of chemists and engineers working behind closed doors to develop adhesives fit for the future. We’re even partnering with leading brands to determine the effects of spray adhesives on the recycling of composite materials at end-of-life, ensuring that our products are contributing positively to this breakdown process.

  • Minimising health impacts: Enjoying lifetime bonds and amazing results in composites manufacturing shouldn’t come at the expense of your health, nor that of your employees or visitors to your site. Indeed, whilst solvent-based adhesives form a major element of the dry layup market, we’re continuing to innovate in this area by removing any substances which represent avoidable risks. Furthermore, as new raw materials enter the market, we’re pledging to be there with a safer adhesive to match.

  • Sharing the knowledge: We’re passionate in our belief that knowledge has to be shared. Over the years we’ve been committed to building the industry’s definitive knowledge bank for adhesive products and selection advice, with expert blogs training our users in the top tips for ultimate results. Meanwhile, we’re taking our knowledge to you with a series of online Webinars, delivered by adhesive users, for adhesive users. To see this knowledge bank for yourself, check out our many tutorial videos on our official YouTube channel or check out our ever-growing blog section!
