Tensor have been working with Kingspan for two years to improve the fabrication and installation processes for their customers. One product we explored is Koolduct, a pre-insulated foil-faced duct system.
This duct system is used to control temperature in commercial buildings, such as hospitals, offices, and retail and leisure complexes, to provide HVAC contractors with a faster and cleaner installation with zero lagging required.
For curved sections, each duct component arrives in 4 flat pieces which are traditionally bonded together using a liquid adhesive. Each piece has a mitred edge, and to construct each component you would hand apply adhesive along this edge. While straight sections arrive in one piece, which is folded into a rectangle using v grooves.
After application, the liquid adhesive takes up to 15 minutes to tack off, before the duct can be constructed. Due to low initial strength of the adhesive, the duct will need held in place with clamps.
This application is typical when constructing Kingspan’s Koolduct system, however the application is slow, messy and tricky.
In collaboration with Kingspan, TensorGrip H40 was developed specifically to make this application faster, cleaner and stronger. This partnership also brings a consistency across delivery partners, providing peace of mind and confidence to Kingspan that only this reliable product is in use.
Instead of applying a liquid adhesive by brush, simply spray TensorGrip H40 across the mitred core faces to be bonded using our spray gun. This spray gun brings unrivalled control, being suitable for use on a single v groove, or reduce overspray and save time by stacking the staggered mitred joints. Tack off time is just 3 to 4 minutes and the bond is immediate. Kingspan were so impressed, they fully endorsed the product for use on their Koolduct range, and their logo is proudly displayed on the product.
